The lake of Aiguebelette

Lake Aiguebelette: a preserved natural jewel

Nestled in the heart of Savoie Mont Blanc, this freshwater pearl seduces with its discreet charm and untouched nature. Lake Aiguebelette, although the smallest of the four great lakes in the region, turns out to be the most secret, the most preserved.

Imagine a peaceful water mirror with changing reflections, picturesque boat sheds and small houses on stilts, two mysterious islands floating on a triangular tablecloth in emerald hues… Here, everything inspires calm, contemplation, resourcing. The very meaning of its name – Aiguebelette, “Beautiful little waters” – reflects this magical atmosphere.

On its banks, which have remained wild, a rich aquatic life thrives: fauna and flora flourish in a protected ecosystem. Highly appreciated by fishermen, the lake benefits from remarkable natural areas that ensure exceptional biodiversity and impeccable water quality.

In order to preserve this purity, strict measures have been implemented. Navigation is regulated, and thermal engine boats are prohibited, thus ensuring a peaceful and silent environment.

All around, the small communes and villages perched in the hills have retained their authenticity. Far from mass tourism, these places reveal a carefully restored rural heritage, often enhanced by flowers and bucolic landscapes.
